Description
The Energy Dream Lab (EDL) is a Living Lab of INESC-ID and Instituto Superior Técnico dedicated to the development, demonstration and validation of solutions for intelligent energy systems. Embedded in a highly qualified academic and research environment, the EDL fosters collaboration between researchers, students, companies and entities in the energy sector, serving as a bridge between applied research and the implementation of solutions in real-world contexts.
The laboratory focuses on the integration of distributed energy resources, including renewable energy, energy storage, electric mobility, and advanced management and control systems. Through modelling, real-time simulation and experimental validation capabilities, it enables the testing of new technologies, operating strategies and flexibility services under conditions close to those found in real energy systems.
The EDL has supported several national and European projects, including EV4EU, Shift2DC and AHEAD, contributing to the development of innovative solutions for the energy transition. Its main benefits include reduced technological risk, accelerated innovation, and the creation of a collaborative environment for demonstration, experimentation and advanced training in the fields of energy and smart grids.
